All of us at The DPN would like to welcome Keegan and his production, Adventures of a Teenage Disney Geek, as an Official DPN podcast. Keegan has been a long time supporter of The DPN and has become part of the family here. The continued growth of his production and his dedication are further reasons to welcome him as an official DPN podcaster. So, congratulations to Keegan!
Adventures of a Teenage Disney Geek can be found on Itunes and here:
As a sidenote…we now have clearly established the youngest DPN podcaster and the oldest. We even represent the tween set. The DpN…covering all your bases. Hehe
Forums will be setup ASAP so be sure to give them a visit.
Keegan is a GREAT friend to Shannon and I! So we are EXTREMELY happy for his success. He has definitely earned official DPN podcaster status. If you aren’t listening to The Adventures of a Teenage Disney Geek podcast, you are doing yourself a disservice. He has an AMAZING love and knowledge of Disney history. I always have a blast with him touring around the Walt Disney World resort. I hope one day he can join Shannon and I at Disneyland! That would RAWK.
Miley’s new album, “Breakout”, will be available July 22 in stores and on iTunes. Here’s the first single titled “7 Things”. Watch it below and then let’s us know what you think! Will this be a breakout for Miley?
On Episode 38 of The Magic Never Ends Podcast, you learn something about Will and Shannon that will SHOCK you!
Shannon has FIVE days off from work?! And how does she spend it? At a medical conference…away from Will. So no time for an in-studio episode which was to be The Attack of the Tweens trip report. That will come to you in a few days as you’ll get a mid-week MNE Episode! WOW!!!
Fresh off the LIVE in-park Episode 37, here is more in-park shenanigans!
A first for MNE, as we go coast-to-coast to ride an attraction. That attraction is Splash Mountain.
First in Disneyland - as part of DPN’s Westfest 2008 - we ride with wdwfanjon (Jon from Minnesota), HeavenIsDisneyland (Liana), TheBigD (Chreestopher), AussieJohn…also you’ll hear Josh, FromPA (his poor cellphone!) TVKirby, and BMSLou.
(Make sure you listen to The Single Rider Podcast Episode 4 to hear us talk more about the SPLASH down event with Chris.)
Finally at WDW - as part of The Attack of the Tweens (June 2008) trip - we ride along with the Dysfunctional SuperFamily and the ConnieJenKyra Family. As with any interaction with the DSF, the censors are on standby!
The audio is a bit rough on the WDW piece because Will is still learning the ins and outs of the H2. The fun we all had on the WDW Splash Mountain makes up for any knocks in sound quality.
Even though Will and Shannon had harsh words for Splash Mountain, they did enjoy it as it was a GREAT time with friends!!! Thanks to those that rode with us. Classic moments we’ll ALWAYS cherish. (Even if The Big D and The Aussie LIED to us!)

She knows it’s coming. With two major motion pictures, a new album and an international mega-tour on tap for 2008, Vanessa Hudgens can sense the approaching cyclone. The media frenzy, the blur of time zones, the roar of the arena crowd: it’s all part of the package. But having been around this block before, the 19-year-old singer is more than ready. With her new Hollywood Records CD, Identified, Vanessa Hudgens has matured, revealing a level of sophisticated artistry sure to thrill long-time fans and draw in new fans as well.
Working with A-list songwriter-producers like JR Rotem, Dr. Luke, Tim James & Antonina Armato, Vanessa took unexpected turns on the new album. “This time I did what I wanted to do,” she says. “I always had a knack for a more soulful, jazzy sound, so right off the bat I wanted to kind of let loose, and come up with a sound no one has heard from me before.” She’s not exaggerating. For those familiar with her sweet-toned performances from the “High School Musical” films – which catapulted her to superstardom – or her 2006 debut CD, V, Vanessa has some gritty surprises in store.
Vanessa’s first single and video, “Sneakernight,” is both fun and funky, and may end up as one of the CD’s most enduring hits. Says Vanessa, “Dancing in sneakers makes it all the better. People haven’t been able to see that side of me. I can kick butt!”
Identified kicks off with “Last Night,” the raucously rhythmic opener featuring Vanessa singing over her own chanted harmonies. “I loved it the minute I first heard it,” she says of the song. “It’s really intricate and really fun, something you don’t hear very often.” Best known as a singer and actress, Vanessa is also a superb dancer, so for the new album she raised the stakes with pummeling dance tracks like “Hook It Up,” “First Bad Habit” and the hook-laden title track, “Identified.”
With “Don’t Ask Why,” “Don’t Leave” and the heartfelt “Paper Cut,” there’s no shortage of ballads on the album. Vanessa says ballads are her forte. “I like showing the vulnerable side,” she notes. “It’s a position a lot of girls find themselves in, where love takes control of you and you don’t have any control over it.”
Songs like “Party on the Moon” and the hip-hop-flavored “Amazed” place Vanessa at the forefront of contemporary pop interpreters.
Vanessa ends the album with “Gone with the Wind,” a wistful lament about change in the wake of faded love. The lyrics tell a tale of a confident woman evolving out of the wide-eyed girl of before.
Sound familiar? That’s Vanessa Hudgens, who became a household name following her starring role in the smash 2005 made for TV Disney Channel film, “High School Musical.” In the years since, in film, music and performance, Vanessa has proven her appeal to both youth and adult audiences.
From the age of eight, the Salinas, CA, native displayed a talent beyond her years. Starting with local productions of popular musicals, Vanessa later moved with her family to Southern California to pursue her dreams. With her 2004 motion picture debut in the critically acclaimed “Thirteen,” Vanessa landed roles in “Thunderbirds,” as well as TV’s “Quintuplets,” “Still Standing,” “The Brothers Garcia” and “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.”
Everything changed with the January 2006 premiere of the Disney Channel movie “High School Musical,” in which she starred as Gabriella Montez. The film gathered steam right away, spawning a hit soundtrack, a worldwide concert tour, a show at Walt Disney World and even a book series. It made superstars of Vanessa and her co-star, Zac Efron.?
“We had no idea,” she says, when asked if she sensed at the time the film would become a cultural phenomenon. “We were just having fun: just kids doing what we love most, and it turned out big.”
Vanessa’s RIAA certified gold debut CD, V, shipped September 2006, with hit singles like “Come Back To Me” and “Say OK” following soon after. She reprised her role as Gabriella in “High School Musical 2,” which premiered on the Disney Channel in August 2007. That same month, Vanessa was named Choice Breakout Singer at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards. She also landed commercial contracts with companies like Neutrogena and Mark Ecko.
As for her acting career, Vanessa is set to star in the highly anticipated “High School Musical 3,” which reunites the cast from the first two films. “It’s got all of us back in senior year,” she says. “It’s going to be pretty crazy, with so much more dancing and singing. We’re just stepping it up.” Vanessa will also co-star in the comedy, “Rock On,” alongside Alyson Michalka, Gaelan Connell, and Lisa Kudrow. She plays Sam, a 15-year old high school outcast with an enduring love of music. “It’s a fun movie about friendship,” says Vanessa. “I got to play a completely different character, one who is downbeat and moodier.”
In real life, Vanessa Hudgens couldn’t be more upbeat, especially with the release of Identified. Not only does the album affirm her standing in contemporary pop, it points the way for a gifted artist on the ascent. “I’m just really happy and thankful for my fans and the support everyone continues to give me,” she says. “I feel I’m at such a great point in life. I hope everyone enjoys my album, because I totally enjoyed making it.”
Guitars Will Feature Bright Colors and Bold Designs
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aly & AJ, two of the hottest names in pop music, have partnered with Performance Designed Products (PDP) to launch a line of video game accessories targeted at female gamers.
The accessories will debut in September with a signature line of guitar controllers for Wii and PS2 that will be compatible with Guitar Hero.
“We wanted to do something that really speaks to the girls who are fans of these games,” said Aly, the older of the two sisters. “We love the idea of being able to bring them into our music by playing one of our guitars.”
“We are very excited to have personally designed our own guitars for use with Guitar Hero,” said AJ. “Most video games and game accessories are designed for boys. PDP is a forward-thinking company by recognizing that females can rock too.”
PDP, one of the top names in video game accessories, sought out the sisters because they combine star power, popular appeal and musical chops. By working with Aly and AJ, PDP hopes to reach young girls and let them know that rock ‘n’ roll and video games aren’t just for boys.
“Aly & AJ were an obvious choice for us,” said John Moore, Vice President of Marketing for PDP. “They are multi-talented artists who write their own music and are proficient musicians playing guitar, piano and percussion. They are also gamers themselves, and have been instrumental in the design process.”
Since being introduced into the gaming market, music games have grown in popularity, and females make up nearly half of the current players.
“Despite the fact that the female gaming market is large and growing, it has historically been underserved by the video game industry,” said Moore. “We wanted to provide female gamers with an opportunity to rock with the best and most stylish accessories.”
The result is two guitars with fun and vibrant colors and bold designs. Both guitars are wireless and will have a suggested retail price of $69.99 each.
Aly & AJ are sisters Alyson Ranea and Amanda Joy Michalka. Their 2005 debut album “Into the Rush” went platinum. Their second album, “Insomniatic,” was released in July 2007 on the Hollywood Records label. The album features the single “Potential Breakup Song,” which was noted in Time Magazine as one of the Top 10 Songs of the Year for 2007. In addition to music, the sisters have also acted in a variety of TV shows and movies, including the 2006 Disney Channel original movie “Cow Belles” and MTV’s “Super Sweet 16: The Movie.” 2009 will bring theatrical releases for each sister: Aly in the starring role of Charlotte in the Summit Entertainment/Walden Media feature film, “Rock On,” and AJ in the role of Clarissa in the Peter Jackson directed DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures feature film, “The Lovely Bones.” The sisters are planning on releasing their third album in 2009.
