NTSB Agency Says It Could Be 6 Months Before Final Report on Disney Monorail Crash

The Federal agency said Wednesday they have received most of the documents they requested in the investigation of the July 5th Disney World monorail crash that killed monorail pilot Austin Wuennenberg.

The National Transportation Safety Board said in an e-mail to the media that “the documents that will become part of the investigation are employee records showing training, work history and work hours; monorail standard operating procedures; and mechanical maintenance and inspection history of the trains and switch mechanism.”

The e-mail also said that interviews have been completed with “the switch control operator, the pilot of the striking monorail train, and the monorail coordinator that was on duty on the night of the accident.”

The next report, per an NTSB spokesman, won’t likely be released for about six months.

Demi Lovato’s Here We Go Again Debuts at #1

Much praise and kudos to Demi Lovato for debuting a #1 on the Billboard 200!!  Here We Go Again, Demi’s 2nd album, sold in excess of 107,000 units.  Don’t Forget, her first album, debuted at #2 and sold 89,000 units in the first week.

Quite a change!

Don’t Forget came on the heels of her appearance on Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers.  She was just starting to make a name for herself.

Now, Demi stars in the hit Disney Channel series Sonny With A Chance.  She co-starred with real-life BFF Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place) in the smash Disney Channel movie Princess Protection Program, which ranks as the year’s # 1 TV movie among Kids 6 – 11 and Tweens and cable TV’s # 1 movie telecast in Total Viewers and Households.

She started small, playing concerts in South America, before headlining her own summer tour!

The review for both her sophomore album and her concert tour have been outstanding!  People are having fun with Demi’s new music.

In a recent New York Times Sunday Arts & Leisure cover feature, the paper praised Demi with:

“Ms. Lovato stands out artistically, with tastes and attitudes that appear unscripted.  Ms. Lovato is the most exciting of the company’s (reference to Disney) musical stars.”

On her album, Here We Go Again, the Los Angeles Times wrote:

“Lovato channels a witty, pouty ingenue in high heels who’s not afraid to call the shots, especially after a good cry.”

Hometown Dallas Morning News echoed the sentiment:

“She sings with rocking fire and angst. With each note she’s telling us there’s more than teen dream appeal at work. Lovato brews and broods.”

I’m thoroughly impresed with Here We Go Again!!!  It’s outstanding, amazing, and superb.  I can’t praise Demi enough for this new sound.  It surpasses just young tween pop.  I’m extremely impressed with any artist that writes their own music.  And on this album, Demi either wrote or co-wrote all the songs.

When Demi had started her summer tour, only Don’t Forget was available.  I wasn’t impressed enough to plunk down my hard-earned cash to see Demi in concert.  Now with Here We Go Again, I’m sad I didn’t take that chance on this young singer.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see Demi in concert on this summer tour.  Hopefully with all the sucesss and buzz she’s generating, she’ll go on tour again next summer.

I’ll be there, Demi, for sure!!!  You rock and I can’t wait to rock with you LIVE in concert!!

Congrats to Demi Lovato on the success of your new album!!  Good luck on the rest of your tour…on Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam…and Sonny With a Chance!!!

I encourage everyone to purchase Demi’s new CD.  You won’t be dissapointed!

Comic Con Interview with Cast and Crew of ‘Tron Legacy’

At the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, MoviesOnline caught up with Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Sean Bailey, Joe Kosinski, Steven Lisberger and Oren Aviv to talk about Tron Legacy.

Tron Legacy is the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi movie Tron.  So naturally, the interview’s first question is about the 30 year time gap between films.

Oren Aviv, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, says it’s not a goal of his to reinvent Disney classics, even though the studio is putting out Alice in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol and Tron Legacy.  He says that “a great story and a great storyteller, that we can combine to come up with something that is fresh and unique” is what excites him.

Jeff Bridges wouldn’t talk much as to why his younger self appears in the sequel only to say that the technique used to pull off this trick was a challenge.

Steven Lisberger, director of the 1982 Tron and producer on the sequel, assures both old and new fans alike:

“This movie takes place in 2010 but accepts the history of what happened between 1982 and 2010 really happened.  I guess it heavily considers the original and accepts the events of the original as true fact and back-story, for our story, but our story is a stand alone story.”

I’m excited about this new movie, and from the cast and crew’s interview, it sounds like they are as well!  Most importantly, they seem to recognize that they need to pay homage to the loyal Tron fans but given the three decades gap, they need to make it assessable to new fans.

To read the entire interview, head on over to MoviesOnline.

Miley Cyrus and Zac Efron to Surf into ‘Gidget’ Remake?

Musical-comedy film envisioned as start of new franchise.

Moviehole reports that per a reliable source Zac Efron and Brittney Snow have been approached to co-star with Disney pop star/actress Miley Cyrus in remake of the 1959 surfer movie, Gidget.  Cyrus would play the title role in the movie.

I’m not sure if most people even know about this movie.  So here’s some information:

Gidget is a Columbia Pictures feature film starring Sandra Dee, Cliff Robertson, and James Darren in a story about a teenager’s initiation into the California surf culture and her affliated romance with a young surfer. Gidget was one of the first “beach movies” and was followed by two sequel films, various television series, several telemovies, and the spoof Psycho Beach Party. Gidget received one award nomination.

Neither Efron nor Snow have been officially signed to this project.

I think Cyrus would do well in a musical-comedy film.  Maybe she’d do a bit better on the musical than comedy side.  I’m very interested in a Cyrus/Efron team-up in a movie.  Especially if their movie is a musical comedy.  I’m just not sue about a Gidget remake.

Miley seems extremely eager to get her movie career going.  Having signed onto movie based on the young-adult novel, Wings (with the possibility of it turning into a Twilight-type franchise) and rumors that she’s enthusistically trying to land the role of Batgirl in the next Batman movie.

Do you think that Miley could hang-ten as a young surfer in a Gidget remake?  What do you think of Cyrus-Efron movie?

Rumors Buzzing that Miley Cyrus to be Batgirl in next Bat-film

Oh boy.  The Internet is abuzz with rumors that Warner Brothers executives were stunned by the Disney singer-actress as she appeared at the audition in full batsuit!

The Globe’s Loosh Lips column broke the news stating:

“She was sort of hopping around the room and had even written some dialogue for herself. The problem is, some people aren’t really convinced Miley has the acting chops to pull it of.”

I think the the tabloid is just trying to generate buzz and sell papers.

Which I guess is what we’re trying to do as well by passing on this story.

But really I love Miley and enjoy reporting on what’s happening with the Hannah Montana star!  I doubt the validity of this report.  The previous Bat-movies were about getting “names” (e.g. Chris O’Donnell, George Clooney, Alicia Silverstone) into the franchise.  Current Bat-director Christopher Nolan understands that he must cast the appropriate actors for the roles as the actors in boh Batman Begins and The Dark Knight have been spot on in their performances!

Nevertheless, I am eager for Miley Cyrus to grew in her acting roles.  If Nolan thinks she can do a good job as Batgirl, then I’m onboard!  His Batman movies have been nothing short of OUTSTANDING!

Pretending that this story is true, what do you think of Miley Cyrus in the next Batman movie?  How do you think she’d be as Batgirl?  Is Miley ready to make the transition into a more grown-up role?

Disney World Tests Centrailized FastPass System at Animal Kingdom

Under the current system, guests must go to each individual attraction that participates in the FastPass system to gain a ticket.  Last week, Walt Disney World is experimenting with a new system that would centralized the FastPass distribution method.  This test began at Disney’s Animal Kingdom where guests can visit vending machines at the centralized location of It’s Tough to Be a Bug for the theme parks’s three most popular rides: Dinosaur, Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Passes are still available at their normal location of at the attractions as well.

The Walt Disney World Resort always strives to improve guest experience.  Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez said the resort wants “to make it even easier for guests to utilize FastPass during their visits.”

What do YOU think of this proposed change?  Do you think it will improve guest experience?  Are you tired of walking all over the park to get your FastPasses?  Do you have suggestions on how to further improve this system?

What is Disney’s FASTPASS® Service?

Take advantage of Disney’s FASTPASS® service. You can enjoy the rest of the park while FASTPASS® saves your place in line.

To use Disney’s FASTPASS® service:

  • Look for the FASTPASS® distribution area near the entrance of an attraction
  • Check the FASTPASS® “Return Time” display which gives you a span of time during which you can explore the Park before returning to board the attraction.
  • If the Return Time is sufficient for your plans, just insert your Walt Disney World® Resort admission ticket, readmission ticket or Annual Passport into the machine.
  • A FASTPASS® ticket will emerge with your Return Time printed on it. Now you’re free to go and enjoy the rest of the Park.
  • Go back to the FASTPASS® Return queue when your return time rolls around, show your FASTPASS® ticket to Cast Member at the entrance, and enjoy the attraction with a minimal wait.

  • Joe Jonas and Girlfriend Break Up

Seems Joe was dating Camilla Belle, the actress from the Jonas Brothers music video Love Bug.  Wow, I need to keep up better on my JoBro news!  I blame Shannon since she’s the JoBros – and specifically Joe Jonas fan!

E! news confirmed with Camilla’s rep that the couple are no more.

“Yes, it’s true, they have broken up,” says Brad Cafarelli. ”There is no third party involved, and they care deeply about each other and will remain friends.”

The Joe and Camilla story seems to go that Joe was dating Taylor Swift around the time of the filming for Love Bug.  Joe meets Camilla on the set and his heart swoons.  A nasty break-up ensues with Taylor (Editor’s note:  Will sides with Taylor on the break-up).

Monday morning, the rumor mill was working over-time on the middle Jonas’ love life.  Perez Hilton stated that at Sunday night’s show in Detroit, Joe cried a bit during the romantic songs Gotta Find You and Turn Right giving hints that Joe’s heart was aching.

The gossip blogger cites this video:

Maybe the first clue was the Boston show, Perez writes, where Joe removed on stage a necklace Camila gave him.

We know that Joe is heart-broken and wish him the best.  I’m sure there’s hordes of young girls around the world that are rushing to comfort him.

    What do you think?

Ashley Tisdale is ‘not just that Disney girl’

While making new album Guilty Pleasure, High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale stopped by Billboard.com’s studios to chat on camera about growing up, being herself in her new music, and why she’s “not just that Disney girl.”

“People perceive me as my character on High School Musical, as this blonde, bubbly, cute girl, but I’m 23 years old and my original hair color is brunette,” Tisdale explained. “So when I dyed my hair, I felt a little bit more edgier. I was just like, I need to share this with people. There’s a different side of me that people haven’t seen. The best part about doing an album is that you get to be yourself and talk through the music.”

“The whole message of this album is that I’m growing up…and I’m not just this Disney girl. I have another side of me.”

Spliced into the video interview is footage from the It’s Alright, It’s Ok music video. I think this video looks great!

What do you think?  Do you like Ashley’s new sound?  Do you prefer her as a brunette or blond?

Video: Demi Lovato Visits ‘The View’ on July 23, 2009

The always enthusiastic and energetic Demi Lovato visits The View on July 23 to talk about the Camp Rock phenomenon, Sonny With A Chance, being bullied, and her new album.  She also performed the title track from that new album, “Here We Go Again”.

I’ve listened to Demi’s second album and it’s simply amazing!  Go get this  now!  It has a great blend of different genre songs.  This CD recently got me through a long commute home with lots of traffic.  So, thanks, Demi for de-stressing and energizing me!

Tim Burton Talks About ‘Alice’ and Depp

Alice in Wonderland, Disney and Tim Burton’s new move, was a hot topic of the 2009 San Diego Comic Con.  The teaser trailer revealed was helped by the surprise appearace of Johnny Depp, who plays the Mad Hatter in the film.

Burton discusses his new movie with Reuters.

Disney’s Guinea Pigs Steal Boy Wizard’s Box Office Magic

Wow! Who would’ve thought that the Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer action guinea pig movie would knock of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the box office?  Granted G-Force only beat the sixth Harry Potter movie by 3.1 million but I’m still a bit surprised.  Because of the success of G-Force, soon we’ll hear about the rise in guinea pig sales for little kids.

I wasn’t so sure about the non-blond Ashley Tisdale.  I thought she looked great as a blond, playing Maddie Fitzpatrick on The Suite Life of Zack & CodyHigh School Musical and then as Sharpay in the movies.  But I’m digging this new look Ashley Tisdale!  It’s a good change for her – to show she’s growing up from the young Disney star.

Is Guilty Pleasure on your list to pick up this Tuesday?

Disney Announces ‘Pirates 4′ Shooting Date at Comic Con!

So much for Johnny Depp having some down time.  Reuters had reported that, while having his name attached to high-profile films, none of Depp’s upcoming movies were green lit yet.

Thankfully that’s all about to change!

ComingSoon.net sat down with Disney’s Head of Production Oren Aviv at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con.  And Aviv gave all us Pirates of the Caribbean fans reasons to SHOUT!!

“We’re going to shoot ‘Pirates 4′ in April or May of next year.  We are going to release it hopefully in 2011 is the plan.”  He said that this time they would only be doing one movie this time that would “hopefully be the first of another trilogy.”

This is what I’ve been waiting to hear!

No word on whether previous Pirates director Gore Verbinski will be on board to direct the Pirates 4.  Though there’s rumors that uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney will hire a young up and coming director familiar with action movies.

Aviv did stress the main goal is to “get the story right.”  He mentioned that the new movie needs to be smaller in scale as the subsequent movies got bigger and more complicated.  He goes on to say “I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters.”

The interview hinted that Captain Jack Sparrow‘s back story could be the focus of the fourth movie.  Which would make sense if they wanted to “reboot” the franchise.

Disney, please don’t FULLY restart the Pirates series.  I do agree they should scale back a bit.  As much as I’ll miss the very lovely Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann, I think her’s and Will Turner’s story was successfully resolved.  Let’s focus more on the characters.  And especially the rivalry between Captains Sparrow and Barbossa!  Those were some memorable scenes from the trilogy.

Are you excited now that Pirates 4 has a shooting date?  What do you want to see in Pirates 4?  Let us know!
