High School Musical 3: Senior Year

E! News is confirming what we knew already. HSM3 is coming to the big screen! It will be the Senior Year for our favorite Wild Cats. And everyone will return! Which is the smart decision by Disney.

Here’s the story, HSM Graduating in Big-Screen Style:

It’s official. These High Schoolers are matriculating to the megaplex.

Production on High School Musical 3: Senior Year, the first big-screen installment of the smash-hit Disney franchise, is expected to kick off this spring with the entire cast intact, Walt Disney Studios announced Monday.

So, apparently, the pending money matters have been settled and image issues addressed since the wait-and-see period following the record-breaking premiere of HSM2 in August, during which it was unclear whether Disney would rehire Vanessa Hudgens or shell out big bucks for Zac Efron, whose asking price went way up after he became Hollywood’s next big thing.

In September, the Disney Channel refused to comment on Hudgens’ future with the franchise after a few underage nude self-portraits the 19-year-old took for a boyfriend hit the Internet. Her surprisingly scandalous behavior set fan sites ablaze for awhile, but, as is frequently the case, the chatter died down and the actress was back in business a month later.

Movie News for Aly & AJ, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens!

According to Blog Girl’s The Daily Dish, some of our favorite Disney artists are working on new movies!

Here’s what she reports:

Some of your favorite stars have just signed on to star in a couple new movies. First up, Ms. Ashley Tisdale will star in They Came From Upstairs, in which she and some friends have to protect their house from aliens! The movie will be out next year.

In other movie news, Vanessa Hudgens and Alyson Michalka will both star in Will, a movie about a high school rock band that comes out next year. V and Aly will be heading down to Austin, TX to film Will, so if you’re nearby, maybe you’ll spot them on the town. If you do, let us know!

Aly told me it would be tough to be away from sis, AJ, for so long. While Aly’s in Texas, AJ will be in New Zealand, finishing her movie, The Lovely Bones. She said she and AJ would have to get an international long-distance cell phone plan for all the chatting they plan to do!

I wonder if I can get “The Other Will” to go over to Austin and get me some pictures and inside scoop from Aly and Vanessa!!

Humuhumunukunukuapua

Humuhumunukunukuapua or “The Reason to Purchase High School Musical 2 on DVD!” You might’ve heard us talk about it on the podcast, but this seriously the most fun song on the High School Musical 2 soundtrack!!! Fabulous is a good song, but Ashley Tisdale really shows her comedic side with Humuhumunukunukuapua. Every time I listen to it (and it’s a lot!) I sadly think how much funny HSM2 would’ve been with it included! I found a version on YouTube, which isn’t the best of quality. But it will need to tide me over until HSM2 is released on DVD.

What do you think? Do you like it? Should it have been included with the original release of HSM2?

Super-star Miley Cyrus to appear on Oprah Winfrey Show

miley_oprah.jpgTeen phenomenon Miley Cyrus is making her first appearance Wednesday, November 21, 2007 on the Oprah Winfrey Show!  Joining her is her father, Billy Ray!

According to Oprah.com “behind the stage, 100 of her biggest (and littlest) fans aren’t expecting this.”

Too bad I can’t be of those 100 fans!!  But I guess I’m not a “little” fan.

Tune in Wednesday to find out what is this surprise!  I think it’s that these 100 fans aren’t expecting to meet Miley.  She’ll probably sign some autographs, take some pictures, and hopefully perform.

Hannah Montana 3-D

Tween girls (and Will) can relax now because Disney has announced that the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour will come to movie theatres across the country! The tour has become a subject of incredibly bad press because of scalpers scooping up all the tickets from the fans. For one week from February 1-7, fans can watch Cyrus in Disney Digital 3-D. Disney hopes to put the concert film in about 880 theatres carrying 3-D.

Even though we are fans of Miley Cyrus and love the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus music, Shannon and I were unwilling to pay the exorbitant prices.   This is also a good sign that Disney will release the concert movie on DVD.

High School Musical 2

Well, after the anticipation……it was finally here…..the Premiere weekend of High School Musical 2!!!!!  We got a chance to see all of our favorites back in action……singing….dancing…..acting and looking great —- Ashley Tisdale, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron, Corbin Bleu, and Lucas Grabeel as well as a wonderful supporting cast!!!!  It did not disappoint, the story picked up at East High just as everyone was counting down to the start of summer vacation.  Then on to the first group number “What Time is It”.  This was an exceptional start to the movie and prepared us for the phenomenal dancing and singing numbers to follow.  The story continues at Lava Springs Country Club where Sharpay and Ryan are member royalty.  We soon learn that their parents own the club.  The Wildcats Crew end up working as the staff at the Country Club and set the stage for a rival of the “haves” versus “have-nots” as Sharpay and Ryan rule the country club while the wildcats just try to survive.  Sharpay has her eye on Troy Bolton this year and thus makes it her main focus to see that the two of them spend as much time together as possible.  In the process of making Troy her number one project, Sharpay purposely alienates him from his friends and his girlfriend Gabriella.  In normal high school musical fashion, good triumphs over evil and the wildcats crew is reunited together again in the country club’s end of the summer talent show.  Sharpay learns that “We’re all in this Together” and finally joins the group in the finale number rather than trying to sabotage them.  The musical concludes with another great group number “All for One” as the wildcats dance the summer away poolside!!!  There is still a debate between Will and I about whether we like High School Musical 1 or 2 the best, but we both agree that this was a great show and definitely worth a review!!!!  Don’t be surprised if you hear some High School Musical 2 hits on the upcoming podcasts…….we love the music and can’t wait to share it with all of you.  This is Shannon saying “What Time is It?”  It’s Magic Never Ends Podcast Time!!!!!  Catch you later!!!

It’s a Hannah Montana Marathon!

Hannah Montana logoIf you haven’t been watching Hannah Montana. Or you just want to see them all again. This Saturday is your chance to watch 16 episodes of Hannah Montana, followed by the Disney Channel Games and all new episodes of Cory In The House, Hannah Montana, American Dragon: Jake Long and The Emperor’s New School!

It all starts Saturday, August 4th at 12 pm on Disney Channel!

Check out the Hannah Montana viewing schedule.

And don’t forget that High School Musical 2 premiers Friday, August 17th! Only on Disney Channel!

Wish Gone Amiss Weekend

Wish Upon A Shooting Star

Friday the 13th is generally considered unlucky. But for Cory, Miley, and Zack & Cody it’s a chance for luck. The Disney Channel offers reality altering wished filled episodes of Cory in the House, Hannah Montana, and the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. The episodes air for the first time on Friday, July 13th. Then have encore showings on Saturday and Sunday night.

Unlike the crossover episodes that comprised That’s So Suite Life of Hannah Montana, these episodes are self contained. They can be watched in any order. The plot is very simple. Each of the show’s star finds their current lives rather boring. When a shooting star passes, they wish for a more exciting life. Cory wishes he could be President of the United States. Miley (Hannah’s real personality) wishes to be Hannah all the time so she can enjoy the rock star life without the burden of school work. Zack and Cody both wish for super powers.

I thought Cory’s episode was the weakest. But then I’m not a big fan of Cory in the House.

Hannah’s plot was a bit more exciting. An angel looking like Hannah’s bodyguard Roxy shows her this new reality where Miley Stewart never existed. Miley’s dad married a gold digger. Her brother, unable to deal with Hannah’s success, became a hermit. Her friends Oliver and Lily became shallow forms of themselves. Miley wants to return to her real reality, but her angel warns her that people are allowed one wish only. Fortunately, Jackson wishes that there was a world where people didn’t know that she was Hannah. Just then the shooting star reappears, reverting reality. Miley hugs Lily, happy that life is back to normal.

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody episode wasn’t so far-fetched. Yes, it was wacky and silly. But that’s the hallmark of the show. The plots tend to revolve around a crazy scheme of Zack, Maddy or London. In fact, they had another alternate reality episode. In this episode, Zack gains super-speed while Cody gains telepathy and telekinesis. Mr. Moseby turns out to be the superpowered, supervillain Mean-ager. His evil plan is to turn the kids of the world into miniature adults. He forces Esteban and Arwin to become his henchmen. After the twins defeat Mean-ager, they realize that as superheroes they have responsibilities can just be kids. They wish they didn’t have superpowers. Borrowing from Superman the Movie, Zack superspeeds him and Cody backwards around the world to reverse time. The hope is that by going back to the time when the shooting star first appeared, they can wish for their normal reality. The episode ends with Cody telling Zack it was all a dream.

Unfortunately, Maddy only makes a brief appearance (as Ashley Tisdale, the actress who portrays her, was filming High School Musical 2). A nice touch is that they include the long forgotten plot line of Zack’s crush on Maddy. When he discovers that he has superpowers, he immediately wants to call Maddy to impress her.

In all, these are fun episodes. Like most Disney Channel shows, you need to suspend belief a bit. So just sit back. Make a wish. And enjoy how it can go amiss!
