Demi Lovato Joins PACER to Support Bullying Prevention

As a young child, Disney Channel and music star Demi Lovato was the target of bullying.  She has been a vocal supporter of bullying prevention.

Now she has a platform for this cause as she’s joined forces with the Minneapolis-based PACER Center. Lovato will support the non-profit national center by appearing on PACER’s soon-to-be-launched (August 8th) TeensAgainstBullying.org Web site. TeensAgainstBullying.org is an innovative bullying prevention educational resource where teens themselves participate in the creative process of developing concepts, content, artwork and the voice for the site.

Paula F. Goldberg, executive director and co-founder of PACER, is eager to have Demi join the Teens Against Bullying movement.

“Our mission is to engage, educate and empower teens to care about the issue and Demi will certainly raise the level of awareness of the importance of bullying prevention. Her personal experiences with bullying have made her passionate about educating others about this cause.”

Demi is proving a mature and responsible young woman to use her celebrity status to combat a national problem.  She is taking a negative (experiencing bullying first hand) and making a positive change!

Lovato hopes that her involvement will help other teens.

“Working together we can make a difference. I hope that by sharing my story, it will encourage other teens to speak out.  No one deserves to be bullied.

She explains that her parents were key to helping her overcome her bullying problems.

“My mom and dad provided me with such a great support system and once I was away from the kids who were bullying me, I was able to get my confidence back and get back to acting.  But not everyone has the great support system and outlets that I did, so I would like to help end bullying to make it easier for kids and teens in all situations.”

According to a recent study by The National Association of School Psychologists and the U.S. Dept. of Justice, 160,000 kids of all ages stay home from school everyday to avoid the stress that comes from being confronted by a bully or bullies.

Make sure to join Demi Lovato and teens world-wide to prevent bullying in the Teens Against Bullying movement!

Demi Lovato’s Here We Go Again Debuts at #1

Much praise and kudos to Demi Lovato for debuting a #1 on the Billboard 200!!  Here We Go Again, Demi’s 2nd album, sold in excess of 107,000 units.  Don’t Forget, her first album, debuted at #2 and sold 89,000 units in the first week.

Quite a change!

Don’t Forget came on the heels of her appearance on Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers.  She was just starting to make a name for herself.

Now, Demi stars in the hit Disney Channel series Sonny With A Chance.  She co-starred with real-life BFF Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place) in the smash Disney Channel movie Princess Protection Program, which ranks as the year’s # 1 TV movie among Kids 6 – 11 and Tweens and cable TV’s # 1 movie telecast in Total Viewers and Households.

She started small, playing concerts in South America, before headlining her own summer tour!

The review for both her sophomore album and her concert tour have been outstanding!  People are having fun with Demi’s new music.

In a recent New York Times Sunday Arts & Leisure cover feature, the paper praised Demi with:

“Ms. Lovato stands out artistically, with tastes and attitudes that appear unscripted.  Ms. Lovato is the most exciting of the company’s (reference to Disney) musical stars.”

On her album, Here We Go Again, the Los Angeles Times wrote:

“Lovato channels a witty, pouty ingenue in high heels who’s not afraid to call the shots, especially after a good cry.”

Hometown Dallas Morning News echoed the sentiment:

“She sings with rocking fire and angst. With each note she’s telling us there’s more than teen dream appeal at work. Lovato brews and broods.”

I’m thoroughly impresed with Here We Go Again!!!  It’s outstanding, amazing, and superb.  I can’t praise Demi enough for this new sound.  It surpasses just young tween pop.  I’m extremely impressed with any artist that writes their own music.  And on this album, Demi either wrote or co-wrote all the songs.

When Demi had started her summer tour, only Don’t Forget was available.  I wasn’t impressed enough to plunk down my hard-earned cash to see Demi in concert.  Now with Here We Go Again, I’m sad I didn’t take that chance on this young singer.  Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see Demi in concert on this summer tour.  Hopefully with all the sucesss and buzz she’s generating, she’ll go on tour again next summer.

I’ll be there, Demi, for sure!!!  You rock and I can’t wait to rock with you LIVE in concert!!

Congrats to Demi Lovato on the success of your new album!!  Good luck on the rest of your tour…on Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam…and Sonny With a Chance!!!

I encourage everyone to purchase Demi’s new CD.  You won’t be dissapointed!

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez are One And The Same

Real-life BFFs Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez starred in the friendship movie, Princess Protection Program on the Disney Channel.  The movie is now available on Disney DVD, which includes another team-up of the two friends – singing the film’s poppy, fun theme song “One And The Same.”

I love the special effects the director employs to reinforce the song’s theme.

Ever since I’ve heard it, I can’t help singing this song.  The music video makes the song more memorable as you can tell that Demi and Selena are having too much fun singing and acting out scenes in the music video.  Their great friendship, and the fun they have with each other, is contagious!

Demi and Selena, your fans want more collabations together!!

“Camp Rock” sequel on track for 2010 debut

Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers return to “Camp Rock” but with a new director and writer.

The Associated Press reports that production will begin this summer on the sequel to the top-rated Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) and premiere next year on the cable network.

In “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam,” the main characters returning to the camp to find that some of the students and instructors have ditched it for nearby rival Camp Star.

Meaghan Jette Martin, Maria Canals-Barrera, Alyson Stoner and Daniel Fathers (Camp Rock’s head honcho) return for the sequel as well.

“Camp Rock 2″ will add two new cast members.  Hip-hop artist Matthew “Mdot” Finley plays the Camp Star hot-shot singer, who challenges Camp Rock to a musical showdown.   Chloe Bridges, a 17-year-old classical pianist will play Dana, the daughter of Camp Star’s owner.

Nick Jonas should get more screen time in the sequel as he will have a “Romeo and Juliet” type romance with Dana.

Paul Hoen will direct Camp Rock 2, taking over for Matthew Diamond.  Hoen directed the DCOM “Jump In!” starring Corbin Blue and Keke Parker.

Dan Berendsen (“Hannah Montana The Movie”) wrote the “Camp Rock 2″ script with Karin Gist and Regina Hicks, the duo who wrote “Jump In!” with Doreen Spicer. Gist and Hicks also wrote the first “Camp Rock” with Julie Brown and Paul Brown.

I’m definitely excited for another “Camp Rock” movie!  Demi and Joe were great in the first movie.  And  I can’t wait to hear more Camp Rock music!  With the plot centering on the inter-camp rivalry, it seems that Tess (Martin) won’t be the villian of the film.  I look forward to see how her character will evolve.

Are you excited for “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam”?  Will the sequel be as good as the first movie?  Let us know your thoughts!
