Selena Gomez Updates Fans on MySpace Blog on First Album!

The Wizards of Waverly Place star has finished her debut album!!

Gomez quickly went to Twitter and MySpace to give her loyal fans the update. And she’s quick to thank them for their support. She wrote:

Selena Gomez Singing Magic

All of my fans have been showing me an insane amount of support during this time for me, along with a couple of parents :) and so for that I thank you. Honestly during every session in the studio all I kept saying is “Oh, I hope they like this!” or “I hope they can relate to this”
you all were in my mind during this time!

Selena is so awesome!!  And very genuine.  Every time I read something from her or hear here give interviews, I believe she’s honest with her fan appreciation.

How cute is she with her enthusiasm about when the album releases?

I think im going to be a little kid running home to his parents showing them my art project when this comes out saying “Do you like it, do you like it?!?!” so in advance I apologize haha

Selena commented that her album art work is complete as well but can’t reveal any photos except to hint “every time I walked out of my dressing room my mom would look at me and say ‘Wow. Selena you would never wear that anywhere else’ plus there were some pretty cool guys that joined me ;)

Now we’re intrigued, Selena!!!  She always such neat fashion style so I’m curious to see these different style outfits.

Big news in the form of a Selena Gomez concert tour?  I’m buying my tickets now!! :)

Now I’m starting band rehearsals with some awesome guys. We will be working really, really hard together to try and make an awesome concert for you guys!

Unfortunately, she only wrote one song.  Hm.  Normally what impresses me about singing acts is their ability to write songs.  I feel that validates the artist a bit more as you’re putting more of yourself into the music.  She confesses that she wants her first album “to be fun, energetic, empowering but very good so with that said I did not write any of the songs but one on the record.”

Maybe she wanted to limit the chances taken on her first full musical venture?  Makes sense.  Since I’m big-time Selena Gomez fan, I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.  She elaborated that music is still new to her and she’s learning about herself musically.  I’ve enjoyed “Fly to Your Heart” from the Tinker Bell soundtrack, “Magic” and “Everything Is Not What It Seems” from the Wizards soundtrack…and of course “One and the Same” which she sings with real-life BFF Demi Lovato!!

So I can understand that she might want to start out slow to figure out better where she wants to and what she wants to explore in her music.

I might be as eager to hear her music as she is to release it!

Now, for those of you who are even considering purchasing my record promise me this, once it is in your hands or illegally downloaded, you will go into your room, car, house, school or your best friends cousins aunts house turn the volume up really, really loud sit down and if you do not get a sudden urge to get up and dance, scream, yell or move whatsoever, I have failed.

Very funny about the “illegally downloaded” comment.  First we’d never think to download musical illegally.  Second, if we did (not that we’re admitting to it), why would we do so on your new album!!  We want to drive up record sales!!

I love the personal challenge from Selena.  I love that she’s again stating her goal to make “fun, energetic, empowering” music for us!

I’m certain that Selena’s first album will be a hit!!  And I can’t wait to blast her music in all the places I listen to music…and also get up and move and groove!!

Congrats, Selena, on completing your debut album and can’t wait to hear it!!!

Ashley Tisdale is ‘not just that Disney girl’

While making new album Guilty Pleasure, High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale stopped by Billboard.com’s studios to chat on camera about growing up, being herself in her new music, and why she’s “not just that Disney girl.”

“People perceive me as my character on High School Musical, as this blonde, bubbly, cute girl, but I’m 23 years old and my original hair color is brunette,” Tisdale explained. “So when I dyed my hair, I felt a little bit more edgier. I was just like, I need to share this with people. There’s a different side of me that people haven’t seen. The best part about doing an album is that you get to be yourself and talk through the music.”

“The whole message of this album is that I’m growing up…and I’m not just this Disney girl. I have another side of me.”

Spliced into the video interview is footage from the It’s Alright, It’s Ok music video. I think this video looks great!

What do you think?  Do you like Ashley’s new sound?  Do you prefer her as a brunette or blond?

Emily Osment To Release Debut Album

Emily OsmentThe Hannah Montana star signs with Wind-Up Records for 2010 release date.  She co-wrote all the songs for her first album.

“We have been closely following Emily’s music career, through music promoted in films and on television. After meeting her and listening to her demos, it was very clear that she is extremely passionate about her music, is a talented songwriter and has a certain edge to her vocals that will distinguish her from her contemporaries,” Edward Vetri, president of Wind-Up Records, said in a statement.

“I am so excited I am getting the chance to finally share my music with everyone,” Osment added. “I have been playing guitar and writing songs since I was little, so it seems like this album has been in process for years. The opportunities and amazing people I have been so fortunate to work with have literally been a dream come true. I can’t wait for all of my very patient fans to hear the music that’s been such a huge part of my life for the past two years.”

I’ve always loved Emily’s “BFF to Miley” performance on Hannah.  But when I heard her remake of Once Upon A Dream from Sleeping Beauty and saw her video for the song, I was immediately captivated.  She sounds good on this song.  Her other musical offerings from this Disney star have promise.  I’m eager to hear her own sound and what she feels compelled to write about.

Here’s Emily’s video for Once Upon A Dream:
