Selena Gomez Updates Fans on MySpace Blog on First Album!

The Wizards of Waverly Place star has finished her debut album!!

Gomez quickly went to Twitter and MySpace to give her loyal fans the update. And she’s quick to thank them for their support. She wrote:

Selena Gomez Singing Magic

All of my fans have been showing me an insane amount of support during this time for me, along with a couple of parents :) and so for that I thank you. Honestly during every session in the studio all I kept saying is “Oh, I hope they like this!” or “I hope they can relate to this”
you all were in my mind during this time!

Selena is so awesome!!  And very genuine.  Every time I read something from her or hear here give interviews, I believe she’s honest with her fan appreciation.

How cute is she with her enthusiasm about when the album releases?

I think im going to be a little kid running home to his parents showing them my art project when this comes out saying “Do you like it, do you like it?!?!” so in advance I apologize haha

Selena commented that her album art work is complete as well but can’t reveal any photos except to hint “every time I walked out of my dressing room my mom would look at me and say ‘Wow. Selena you would never wear that anywhere else’ plus there were some pretty cool guys that joined me ;)

Now we’re intrigued, Selena!!!  She always such neat fashion style so I’m curious to see these different style outfits.

Big news in the form of a Selena Gomez concert tour?  I’m buying my tickets now!! :)

Now I’m starting band rehearsals with some awesome guys. We will be working really, really hard together to try and make an awesome concert for you guys!

Unfortunately, she only wrote one song.  Hm.  Normally what impresses me about singing acts is their ability to write songs.  I feel that validates the artist a bit more as you’re putting more of yourself into the music.  She confesses that she wants her first album “to be fun, energetic, empowering but very good so with that said I did not write any of the songs but one on the record.”

Maybe she wanted to limit the chances taken on her first full musical venture?  Makes sense.  Since I’m big-time Selena Gomez fan, I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.  She elaborated that music is still new to her and she’s learning about herself musically.  I’ve enjoyed “Fly to Your Heart” from the Tinker Bell soundtrack, “Magic” and “Everything Is Not What It Seems” from the Wizards soundtrack…and of course “One and the Same” which she sings with real-life BFF Demi Lovato!!

So I can understand that she might want to start out slow to figure out better where she wants to and what she wants to explore in her music.

I might be as eager to hear her music as she is to release it!

Now, for those of you who are even considering purchasing my record promise me this, once it is in your hands or illegally downloaded, you will go into your room, car, house, school or your best friends cousins aunts house turn the volume up really, really loud sit down and if you do not get a sudden urge to get up and dance, scream, yell or move whatsoever, I have failed.

Very funny about the “illegally downloaded” comment.  First we’d never think to download musical illegally.  Second, if we did (not that we’re admitting to it), why would we do so on your new album!!  We want to drive up record sales!!

I love the personal challenge from Selena.  I love that she’s again stating her goal to make “fun, energetic, empowering” music for us!

I’m certain that Selena’s first album will be a hit!!  And I can’t wait to blast her music in all the places I listen to music…and also get up and move and groove!!

Congrats, Selena, on completing your debut album and can’t wait to hear it!!!

Check out Selena Gomez’s blog on her album update here.

Attempt to switch tracks may have caused Disney monorail crash

National Transportation Safety Board to investigate incident

On Monday in an unprecedented move, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated it will investigate the fatal crash of two Walt Disney World monorail.  The federal agency is best known for probing airline crashes.

Initial reports from other investigators Sunday, indicated that the accident occurred from a track switch that never happened.

An Orlando Sentinel article from last night outlines the timeline of the collision.

The 2 a.m. Sunday collision occurred as one of Disney’s trains was supposed to utilize a transfer spur to move from the resort’s Epcot line to a Magic Kingdom line so it could return to the system’s maintenance bay for the night.

Instead the switch didn’t occurr and the train apparently moved in reverse back down the Epcot line.  The onboard collision-avoidance system likely was set on override.  The train slammed into a second train with a handful of passengers on board.

Austin Wuennenberg, 21, a monorail pilot on the second train was killed.  He is being remembered fondly on various social networks, such as Twitter and Facebook.  Disney has stated that none of the guests were injured.  The pilot of the other monorail, who has yet to be identified, was not seriously injured.

Click here for developing information on the Orlando Sentinel, including the graphic, outlining the sequence of events.

Disney World will reopen monorail — with extra safety features

After the deadly Sunday 2am Walt Disney World monorail crash, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that the Disney monorail has resumed operation.  The publication cited a note to Walt Disney World employees this morning, stating that new safety sensors were added to monitor track switches.  Per the note, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration “released” the monorail system back to the resort.

Investigators will continue their search into what caused a deadly crash early Sunday following Fourth of July fireworks shows.

The predawn collision occurred as one of the trains was being transferred off the system’s Epcot line, which ferries guests between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, according to Disney’s note.  Austin Wuennenberg, 21, was the lone fatality.

Wuennenberg described fondly his monorail pilot job on Facebook.  He felt is was “running the highway in the sky.”

As the news broke Sunday morning, people rushed to social networking sites, like Twitter and Facebook, to discuss the sad event.

Austin is being remember on Twitter with people adding the hash tag #Austin to their tweets.

A Facebook Group was constructed to honor the memory for the Disney monorail driver.  Click here to join.
